    Substance Abuse Alternatives ProgramAldersgate's unique Substance Abuse Alternatives Program, SAA, offers teens cited for underage drinking an opportunity to discuss and evaluate the impact of personal choices on their lives. This is a 6 hour psychoeducational class program that is accepted by most area District Justices, School Districts and Youth Aid Panels as part of an alternative sentencing diversion program. In a peer supported environment teens learn about the physical and legal risks of underage drinking and drug use as well as other at risk behaviors.The group program is designed to encourage youth to explore such topics as decision-making, values, responsibility and trust. The SAA format incorporates interactive group exercises, lecture and discussion. This program has over a 20 year history of success.
