|Chester Community Improvement Project - Pre-purchase Mortgage Counseling||The CCIP provides pre-purchase mortgage counseling to first time low to moderate-income individuals interested in purchasing a property in the City of Chester and Delaware County. CCIP's counseling programs prepare applicants to secure appropriate mortgage financing and assume the responsibilities associated with home ownership.
CCIP applicants attend group counseling sessions provided with valuable education regarding budgeting, savings, credit, mortgage financing, fair housing practices, mortgage products, selecting a realtor, avoiding default, home inspections, home maintenance, and settlement.
CCIP applicants also meet with certified mortgage counselors for a "one-on-one." This meeting allows the mortgage counselor to provide specialized attention to each applicant in a private setting. During individual counseling sessions, counselors review the applicants credit report, work history, and income stability. Together, counselor and applicant review initial maximum sales price, estimate down payment and closing costs, establish savings goals, develop a budget, and discuss available lending programs. It is designed to educate prospective home buyers in the process leading to home ownership and the responsibilities thereafter. The program counselor also reviews the various mortgage products available with each client and what information and documents they need to have to qualify. |Phoenixville Homes - Home Ownership||The first project (HOPE) Home Ownership Phoenixville Empowers, was initiated by Phoenixville Homes in 1994, called Home Ownership Phoenixville Empowers (HOPE) was for first time homebuyers. In this activity Phoenixville Homes purchased, renovated or constructed homes for sale to qualified low-income first time home buyers in the Greater Phoenixville Area. |Scranton Lackawanna Resources Development Corporation||The Scranton Lackawanna Resource Development(SLRDC) is a non-profit arm of Scranton Lackawanna Human Development Agency(SLHDA) that is focusing on providing affordable housing too low to moderate income families. SLRDC builds and renovates homes. First priority will be given to first time home buyers.
In addition, SLRDC will have a few apartments available for rent too low to moderate income families.
SLRDC is seeking qualifications from Home Building Contractors capable of building a 945 to 1,200 square foot three bedroom house in the City of Scranton. SLRDC is interested in builders that are licensed in the City of Scranton, and with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Home Improvement Contractor.
SLRDC’s goal is to develop a long-term relationship with a qualified contractor that has the ability to construct affordable three bedroom housing in the City of Scranton and Lackawanna County for low to moderate income families. |United Communities Southeast Philadelphia - Home Prep Program||First time homebuyers are prepared for homeownership. Potential clients are educated on the whole home buying process, from how to shop for a mortgage, how to look for a realtor to how they can obtain grants to buy the first home.
