    Organizations whose members are emergency management professionals from all levels of government and the private sector who have affiliated for the purpose of advancing the professionalism of the field, promoting mutual interests and supporting policies, procedures and practices that will save lives and protect property and the environment during times of disaster or other emergencies. Emergency management associations offer training and education conferences, provide a forum for discussion and information exchange, offer access to policy research, encourage collaboration and mutual assistance networks, advocate for legislative initiatives and other measures that enhance emergency planning and effectiveness, and provide leadership to ensure that there is an integrated approach to the management of emergency programs and activities during all phases of an emergency (mitigation, preparedness, response, relief and recovery). They may also establish standards for the field, offer certification and accreditation programs, share best practices, provide a resource library and offer other types of support for members.

    Columbia County Emergency Management AgencyColumbia County EMA has two full time employees and is the principle emergency management coordinating entity for thirty-three municipalities. Like any community Columbia County is potentially vulnerable to a variety of natural and man caused emergencies with flash flooding and Susquehanna River flooding at the top of the list. Columbia County is also a risk county of the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station and a member of the East Central PA Counter-Terrorism Task Force.     Eastern Pennsylvania EMS CouncilA not-for-profit organization established by law to act as a local regulatory body assisting the Department of Health with local EMS organizations throughout the six-county EMS region.     Emergency Management Agency-Clinton CountyThe Clinton County Department of Emergency Services (CCDES) is a branch of county government, which was created in January of 2005 through consolidation of the then 9-1-1 Communications Department and the Office of Emergency Management. This consolidation of departments resulted in the creation of a dedicated team of diverse individuals who handle the receipt of 9-1-1 emergency calls along with the dispatching of public safety agencies.
