|National Health Information Center||National Health Information Center (NHIC) is a health information referral service sponsored by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. NHIC puts health professionals and consumers who have health questions in touch with those organizations that are best able to provide reliable answers. Using a database that contains descriptions health-related organizations, NHIC staff refers people to the most appropriate resource. NHIC also produces three annual health information directories (online): Federal Health information Centers and Clearinghouses, National Health Observances, and Toll-free Numbers for Health information.
