Disasters can be scary for young kids, but children are much better at adapting to situations when they know what to expect. Children in this program learn about basic home hazards and emergency situations by working side-by-side with adults to complete an activity book. • The Pillowcase Project – The Pillowcase Project is a preparedness education program for students in grades three through five that teaches children about safety skills, local hazards, and basic coping skills. Red Cross volunteers lead students through a “learn, practice, share” framework to engage them in disaster preparedness and survival skills.
