    Human Relations Commission, York CityThe York City Human Relations Commission (YCHRC) is a civil rights organization that enforces Article 185 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of York, PA. The Commission does intake and takes complaints of discrimination in the areas of employment, housing and public accommodations. In addition, the Commission acts to monitor bias situations and hate crimes that cause tension in the community. The Commission engages in education and outreach activities throughout the community. Upon request, YCHRC will present workshops and seminars for faith communities, schools, community groups, employers, landlords, tenants and individuals. The YCHRC is a Fair Housing Assistance Program provider (FHAP) for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). As such, all housing complaints to HUD are referred to YCHRC for processing, if they are located within our jurisdiction in the City of York. The YCHRC convenes the York County Inter-Agency Task Force on Civil Tension, which monitors and addresses issues of bias and tension throughout York County.     Pottstown Human Relations Commission - Human Relations/ Referral ServicesThe Human Relations Commission is a nine-member team of volunteers appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Borough Council of Pottstown. The diverse team serves to improve the quality of human relations within the Borough of Pottstown. Mission: Its mission is to promote mutual understanding, respect and cooperation among all racial, cultural, religious, ethnic and other groups within the Borough of Pottstown. The Commission monitors the status of human relations within the Borough. It holds multi-cultural educational events. It provides mediation and referral services to Borough residents. Mediation is an opportunity for people to openly discuss conflict and determine whether reconciliation is possible. The parties may speak in a confidential setting directly to each other and be heard. Most of the commissioners are trained mediators. Referral Services At times, the Commission will refer individuals to the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commissions for consideration of a formal hearing.
