Kennett Area Senior CenterThe Kennett Area Senior Center serves older residents of southern Chester County. The Center provides daytime, evening and occasional week-end programs and services to help residents stay active, healthy, and involved, allowing them to remain independent.Chester*Main Site (Kennett Area Senior Center)Kennett Area Senior Center
Kennett Area Senior Center - Assisted Senior ProgramThe Assisted Senior Program (ASP) is designed to enhance the membership experience for individuals who may need gentle guidance throughout the day’s activities at the Kennett Area Senior Center. Our staff members make every effort to preserve the dignity of our clients who may be dealing with such issues as short term memory loss, cognitive impairment, mild confusion, and wandering. We are an "assistance" program and we cater to a much less fragile population than you would find in a licensed Adult Day Program. After scheduled activities and entertainment provided to the general membership of the Senior Center have been completed for the day, several ASP members remain to take part in other activities. For example, ASP members can participate in group discussions, inspirational readings, games, exercises, humorous stories and exchanges, reminiscence, pet therapy, intergenerational visits, cooking and community trips. Our primary goal is that the flow of each day’s activities are generated by the interests and desires of the members in attendance. Another great benefit of ASP is the break it provides the caregiver. The hours and days chosen to utilize our services can be tailored to the specific needs of the individual and his or her caregiver. There is no need to set a schedule or meet a minimum requirement of hours. The Kennett Area Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Chester*Main Site (Kennett Area Senior Center)Kennett Area Senior Center
Kennett Area Senior Center - Information and AssistanceThe Kennett Area Senior Center maintains an Information and Assistance Department (I&A) that serves as a liaison with the Chester County Department of Aging Services and other county resources. Our goal is to secure all the necessary information to provide appropriate community providers. We can answer questions for transportation needs, energy assistance, financial and legal matters, aging matters, community based programs, caregiver information and much more. The I&A Department serves as an APPRISE site for SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) for Medicare counseling and assistance with enrollment in Part D (Prescription Drug Program). The I&A Department provides assistance with state and federal programs that can ensure the well-being of seniors in our community. We maintain updated application forms for these programs.Chester*Main Site (Kennett Area Senior Center)Kennett Area Senior Center
Kennett Area Senior Center - Neighbors in Action - Home MaintenanceThe Kennett Area Senior Center understands the many challenges that our elderly population faces. There are seniors in our community who wish to stay in their homes as long as possible, but are unable to keep their homes clean and safe. Some seniors may not have a support network that can help them. The Neighbors in Action is a program run by volunteers to provide home support services to low income seniors in Chester County. The Chester County Department of Aging Services and the Kennett Area Senior Center joined forces to provide needed services like home maintenance, home repairs and transportationChester*Main Site (Kennett Area Senior Center)Kennett Area Senior Center
