Central Behavioral Health - Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)The goal of the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is to help individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness to recover hopes and dreams for self-determination, build the strengths and skills necessary, and take steps towards achieving these dreams. To achieve these goals, the IOP will empower participants to support their own recovery, cope more effectively with and manage their symptoms, prevent relapse, manage stress in healthy ways, and strengthen social relationships. The IOP will provide group therapy, as well as linkages to individual therapy and psychiatric services for medication management, with a focus on hope, empowerment, choice, and partnership. Specialized clinical resources for people who have experienced trauma and/or who have substance abuse disorders will address the particular needs of these participants. Specialized clinical resources for young adults and those with developmental disabilities will address these participants’ particular needs. Each person requesting outpatient services will be offered a comprehensive assessment which is strengths-based and recovery focused. The assessment process is a collaborative process between the consumer and the clinician. In the event that a consumer has an active support system, or lives with family or significant other, the family/significant other will be included in the assessment and ongoing treatment when clinically indicated and with the consumer’s agreement.
