    Programs that provide regularly scheduled opportunities for parents to participate in a wide variety of recreational, arts and cultural activities with their youngsters. The experience provides a means for developing close family relationships at a stage in the child's life when quality time with their mother or father is essential for healthy development, and exposure to music, storytelling and similar pastimes can stir a child's imagination and spark their creativity. Other programs may focus on reading, games and early learning activities.

Children engage in music activities and learn about various instruments, including the violin, piano, guitar, cello, and percussion. Classes are 30-45 minutes depending on age group. They are held once a week for 15 week semester.     Center for Parenting Education - Play 'n SharePlay 'n Share is a discussion/support group for parents of infants and toddlers up to age 3 years. Children play in the same room as the parents. Parents learn information, gain support and have the opportunity to make connections with other parents. Since parental feelings of isolation are so prevalent and a cause for overly harsh disciplinary practices, this opportunity to talk with other parents and the two Parenting Educator facilitator is very significant. Parents choose the topics to discuss; some examples are sleep issues, isolation, eating, social needs of children and parents, spousal support, parent and in-law management.     Drug and Alcohol Prevention Services, Family-Child ResourcesClub Ophelia: 10 week program for middle school girls talking about girl bullying issues, utilizing high school girls acting as mentors. Strengthening Families Program: The seven-week program is offered to 8-13 families with students in middle school. The goal of the Strengthening Families Program, in addition to having fun, is to focus on strengths and to help families grow together. Parents and students meet separately during the first hour and family members meet together during the second hour to practice skills and work on family projects. All sessions are filled with games, skits, videos, and projects that encourage communication and problem solving. Too Good For Drugs: 10-session class designed to build five essential life skills: goal setting, decision making, social skills, identifying and managing emotions, and effective communications.
