    Programs that offer the services of individuals who perform routine cleaning and maintenance of home heating units and repairs, where needed. Furnace maintenance checkups include inspection of the thermostat for proper operation, inspection of air filters and changing or cleaning them as necessary; checking electrical components and controls, oiling motors, as needed, inspecting the heat exchanger for possible cracks, checking the air flow and, if diminished, cleaning the evaporator coil, and checking the air fuel mixture, where appropriate.

Programs under this category include Dollar Energy Fund (maximum grant of $500) and NFG Neighbor-for-Neighbor (max grant of $400). The Dollar Energy Fund is a once a year lump sum grant from an emergency hardship fund designed to help GPU residential customers who have become payment troubled due to an emergency situation (i.e. loss of employment, illness, divorce) and need temporary help in paying their electric bill.
