    Organizations that sponsor programs during any of the holidays which serve as a point of contact for people in the community who wish to make a donation (food, gifts, toys, money or other material goods) that will be used for seasonable charitable purposes. Included are organizations that provide central collection points throughout the area for donated toys and gifts, mall programs that encourage people to purchase a gift on behalf of a child during the Christmas season, programs that collect food items for holiday baskets and other similar initiatives.

    Angel Tree Program Salvation Army of ScrantonThe Salvation Army's Angel Tree program provides new clothing and/or toys for children of needy families. Each Angel Tree is decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age, and gender of a child who is in need of a gift. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags. Companies, businesses, schools, and other groups agree to have an Angel Tree to benefit The Salvation Army. Each location (business, school, etc.) provides a Christmas tree in which to hang the Angel Tree tags. The tags provide information as to gender, wish, and age. Tags are taken and gifts are donated unwrapped with each Angel Tag attached to the gift. Please call for information on participating in the Angel Tree Program.     Annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Program United Neighborhood Centers of NEPAA WNEP TV Feed A Friend Program distribution center. Provides Thanksgiving Food to Scranton and Carbondale families with children under 18 years in the household. Eligible families will receive a Thanksgiving food including a turkey, dessert, vegetables, and other holiday foods. Thanksgiving 2019 MUST PRE-REGISTER IN PERSON for the program at the UNC Community Service Center Building, 410 Olive Street, Scranton, PA. REGISTRATION DATES/TIMES: November 1 thru November 22, 2019, Mon - Fri 9 am till 5 pm. PLEASE BRING: Photo ID and proof of residency, proof of income (i.e. access cards, unemployment records, current pay stubs, social security letter, etc.) and any form of documentation for each family member/children in the household (ex. access cards, birth certificates, or social security cards).     Christmas Assistance Program Salvation Army of Wilkes- Barre2019 The Christmas Assistance consists of food for all in the household, and toys for children ages 12 and under. Accepting WALK IN, in person applications only. Sign Up Dates: Wednesday, October 16th -- 9 am - 1 pm. Thursday, October 17th -- 9:30 am - 12 pm and 2 pm - 4 pm. Friday, October 18th -- 9:30 am - 1 pm. Tuesday, October 22nd -- 9:30 am - 1 pm. Wednesday, October 23rd -- 9:30 am - 12 pm and 2 pm - 4 pm. Thursday, October 24th -- 9:30 am - 12 pm and 2 pm - 4 pm. NO MAKE UP APPLICATION DATES. Must Provide the items listed below in order to complete an application: - Valid photo ID for all adults in household. - Social Security Cards for person filling out application. - Birth Certificates for ALL children applying for. - Proof of residence (i.e. Utility Bill). - Rent receipt, lease, property taxes or mortgage statement. - Proof of ALL household income (SSI, SSD, cash assistance, food stamps, etc. Please note that this is an application process. It is your responsibility to demonstrate your need for this assistance and provide required documents. Only one application will be accepted for each household. The Head of Household is to apply and may only request help for people who permanently reside in the home. If unrelated individuals live in one residence and share expenses they will be documented as one family (No one under 18 years of age may be an applicant).     Christmas Assistance Salvation Army Forest City Extension Service UnitThe Salvation Army's Angel Tree program provides new clothing and/or toys for children (up to age 12 years) of needy families.
