ESL classes - King's CollegeThe McGowan Hispanic Outreach Program initiated an ESL program for adult learners, recognizing the need among the parents of the high school students and the many Latino families living and working around King’s College. The program meets four times a week for sixteen weeks in the fall and spring semesters. Ninety percent of the adult learners are Latino, but we do accept other language learners (e.g. Vietnamese, Russians, Pakistanis, etc.). There is regularly a waiting list of 10 to 20 people each semester for the start of the next classes. ESL: English as a Second Language is a basic non-credit program that runs from Monday-Thursday from 7:00 pm-8:30 pm. Students are given a diagnostic test in order to be placed in the correct level according to their English proficiency. One night a week (usually Thursday nights) is devoted to conversation, where King’s students who volunteer to work with the students (usually beginners and intermediate level) work off of a lesson plan drawn up by the teacher.LuzerneMcGowan Hispanic OutreachKing's College
