Agnes Irwin School - All-Girls EducationFounded in 1869, The Agnes Irwin School is a nationally-recognized leader in all girls education. In the last ten years, a growing body of research has centered on the benefits of girl-centered education and an excellent resource for that information is The National Coalition of Girls' Schools. This site offers the latest information on girls and sports, girls and technology, teaching strategies and resources for educators, tips for parents on how to raise confident and competent daughters and a wealth of publications related to girls and their education and development. What are some of the benefits of an all-girl school? - Without boys, girls are focused on their performance rather than appearance. - Girls are encouraged to be active participants in class and extracurricular activities. - Faculty/coaches are focused on the welfare of girls 100% of the time. - Programs sensitive to the developmental, social, intellectual and emotional needs of girls are offered. - A willingness to take calculated risks in the classroom is promoted. - Girls are more apt to elect higher level math and science courses. - Strong female role-models inspire girls to develop high expectations for themselves. - There are more opportunities to develop leadership and public speaking skills. - Participation in sports exists at a much higher level. A girl-centered education is a great opportunity. Over 4,000 of our alumnae will attest to that. Request our catalog in this section of our web site and plan to visit us in person. The minute you step on our campus you will see and feel the difference. Agnes Irwin's challenging and supportive environment focused exclusively on girls may just be the ideal place for your daughter's preparation for college, and for life.DelawareThe Agnes Irwin School - Delaware; Bryn MawrAgnes Irwin School
