Abington Friends School - Early Childhood ProgramThe foremost goal of the Abington Friends Early Childhood program is to value and to preserve childhood. Our program builds on the excitement and curiosity that our children bring to their first school experience. Designed to strengthen a young child's developing independence and social skills, the Early Childhood Division combines a focus on the individual with an ever widening sense of community. An emphasis on community, rooted in Quaker beliefs, permeate the Early Childhood curriculum. A critical component of our program is our focus on providing children with an opportunity to explore and learn about the diversity in our own community and in our larger society. Our goal is to help children value the differences and, more importantly, the similarities among all people. We believe that if we are successful in this mission in our work with young children, we are doing our part to build a better society.MontgomeryAbington Friends Early Childhood Program - Montgomery; AbingtonAbington Friends School

Through creative, diverse, educational, age appropriate and fun activities, each child will have an opportunity to grow, learn, be loved and stay safe in a nurturing and loving environment. Covenant Academy - Preschool and Pre-KindergartenThe foundation of our preschool and pre-kindergarten program is a "child-centered emergent curriculum" consisting of developmentally appropriate project-based learning. It is a curriculum in which teachers take their cues from the children, and expand upon their interests. This is accomplished through observing what the children are doing, listening to what they are saying and documenting these observations. Projects are then developed that have been inspired by the children. Teachers begin to enrich their classrooms with books, music, art supplies and other materials related to the project. As the children's interests begin to change, this process is repeated in order to keep the learning experience fresh, exciting and child-centered. Cultural Enrichments include Spanish and Sign Language. Pre-K is given "home activities" to complete at least two times per week. Philadelphia*Main Site (Covenant Academy)Covenant Academy

Parent-Infant Center - Early LearningPIC provides early care and education from 8am to 6pm for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. In addition to our fulltime program, we offer a half-day classroom for children 3 to 5 years and a half-day Pre-K Counts program for 3- and 4-year-olds who meet state guidelines for enrollment. Children learn best through play and active involvement with materials, books, and their surroundings. Our child-centered curriculum – for infants through preschool – is based on everyday experiences and interests. There are opportunities for active investigation, observation, and discussion. Children enjoy group activities and time to work alone; we encourage them to work cooperatively and resolve conflicts with words, not actions. Through classroom experiences, children learn about the ways we are alike and affirm our differences. We often launch expeditions to explore our rich, urban community. The children are grouped in age-appropriate classes with a higher-than-average ratio of adults to children. We try to maintain a 1:3 adult-infant ratio, 1:4 for toddlers, 1:6 for preschoolers, 1:7 for pre-kindergartners, and 1:9 for our school age program. Parent involvement is an integral part of the PIC community and all families who enroll agree to make an investment of time in the work that we do. The Parent Participation Program (PPP) volunteer requirement is 24 hours per year for fulltime families, 12 hours per year for part-time families (prorated for single parents). PIC’s child care program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and has received a 4-star rating from Pennsylvania’s Keystone Stars program. Shaare Shamayim-Beth Judah - Preschool and Kindergarten ProgramsOur program is committed to providing a highly regarded educational foundation while combining life skills and values to ensure a smooth, easy, and successful transition to elementary school. Our program emphasizes the development of the “whole child” by recognizing the need for allowing each child to develop intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically at their own pace. We encourage the development of life skills such as sharing, personal responsibility, positive interactions, respecting rights of others, and conflict resolution, which are formed and developed during these years. We are instilling valuable Jewish values as we teach our children that they can help to heal the world one good deed at a time. Our goal is to accomplish all of the above in a warm, supportive, accepting, safe, nurturing, and stimulating educational environment. Our staff of dedicated and experienced teaching professionals has been carefully selected to meet the individual needs of young children.
