    Caring for Kids Weekend Food Distribution Program - Shikellamy School DistrictStudents at Chief Shikellamy Elementary School have weekend food bags available to them via the school district. Students can register with the district for this program and can collect for not only for themselves but also for any other child living in their home between the ages of 3 and 18 years. Students are given bags of non-perishable type foods every Friday for consumption on the weekends.     Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County - Backpack ProgramFood bank is an emergency food provider for 32 agencies throughout Mercer County. Provide services to school age children through the Backpack Program which provides food to hungry school children on weekends.     Downingtown Area Senior Center - Food ProgramsThe Senior Center offers a continental breakfast and lunch on weekdays, a cold meal to take home, a free box of food each month to eligible seniors, and vouchers for qualifying seniors to purchase fruits and vegetables at local farmers markets. Membership in the Senior Center is not required for these programs. Programs include: ElderShare - provides a monthly box of food to seniors 60 years of age or older whose total household income does not exceed the listed guidelines. ElderShare is in addition to any other food assistance the participant may receive, except that potential participants cannot be current recipients of the USDA’s monthly Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) for low-income seniors. do so.
