Helpful TipsDeadline to register for a Voter ID is October 9, 2012. These IDs are for voters who lack the documents, such as a birth certificate, needed to obtain a photo ID from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Voters seeking a Department of State ID must provide their name, address, Social Security number, proof of residence and a previous name or address if either has changed in the past 12 months. They also must sign a document affirming they are a registered voter without identification acceptable for voting. The Department of State voter ID is valid for 10 years
