Description of Service
Provides services and programs to individuals who are blind or visually impaired, enabling them to lead rewarding and productive lives. The programs and services available include Vision Rehabilitation Services, Low Vision Services, Vision Help Program and Community Outreach Programs.
Individuals can come in to the Allentown office to try out and/or purchase adaptive technology products for the visually impaired.
Support groups and counseling are available for individuals adjusting to vision loss.
Caseworkers develop a personalized plan with each client. Services may include in-home assistance, escorted transportation with a sighted guide, life skills education, socialization/recreational activities and support groups. Clients are accepted based on visual eligibility.
Low Vision Clinic supplies special low vision exams and introduction to assistive technology. Vision Help Program provides free eye exams and/or glasses to financially qualified uninsured individuals.
Community Outreach Program
Free vision screenings for children and adults. Educational programs about eye health and safety are provided to the community.
