Description of ServiceAdults can mentor at a Pittsburgh Public School for an hour a week to help a child gain critical real-world experience. Kids with mentors get better grades, are less likely to get involved with drugs, and are 86% more likely to go to college. Click here to view schedules for participating schools.
Geographical AreaAllegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Washington, Westmoreland
Intake ProcedureVolunteer mentors can apply online or by phone. Mentors are assigned to a United Way partner/mentoring agency and a specific school. Mentors are screened by the assigned mentoring agency and the assigned school. Supervision is provided by the assigned mentoring agency.
Additional RequirementsFBI and Act 33 Clearances
Hours of Operation Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
