Description of Service
This program is a tool to assist probation in holding their clients (ages 14-18) accountable for restitution owed to crime victims and/or to close cases where the client has fulfilled all their requirements except paying monies owed.
The goals of this program are to provide clients with:
•The opportunity to earn a stipend up to $1,485 during the summer and $180 during spring break;
•Employability enhancement, job skills, and a work reference;
•Workshops to help the client job search, develop a career plan, and a resume;
•CPR, AED and First Aid training and certification; and
•A structured and supervised setting.
Provides round trip transportation, supervision, water, safety equipment, and lunch. Our staff will supervise clients as they complete various projects for local government and non-profit organizations. They will also participate in Career Development Job Search Workshops conducted by our staff in our offices. Each Friday is an administrative day for staff for calculation of stipend amount and completion of individual client reports, which will be transmitted to Probation.
Due to the nature of these projects, clients who have any of the following conditions would not be considered suitable for this program unless they produce a written statement from their physician stating otherwise:
•Strong reactions to paint, cleaning products, and bees;
•Are in poor health, that being in the heat for an extended period and/or a high level of physical activity could be dangerous for the child's well being;
•Untreated severe seasonal allergies or other health issues; and/or
•Are recovering from a recent accident, injury, or operation.
•Probation officer should contact Steve Sarti to make sure there is availability
•An intake interview will be scheduled with the caregiver to complete program paperwork
•Client will be scheduled for the next available program opening and be given a transportation pick up time
•Before starting the program, clients must be Court-ordered.
Parents must complete all required paperwork and provide a copy of the child’s most recent physical exam.
