Description of Service
TAP and AB provide access to the live theater experience for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people of all ages! From short one-hour plays to full blown Broadway musicals, theater comes alive in a meaningful way for a new audience...AND the hearing audiences get two-in-one experience, for the most part being awed when witnessing the magic of the sign language interpreters.
By partnering with the region's non-profit and commercial theaters, as well as Arts-in-Education components around the region, Creative Access offers all the opportunity to expand their vision of "accessibility, opportunity and inclusion and diversity" providing access "Beyond the Ramp".Or, for those who prefer, closed-captioned performances are available, and promotion of ALDs (Assistive Listening Devices) in all of the theaters is ongoing.
And what about the children? School-day performances are scheduled whenever possible, for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and youth, bringing the worlds of Deaf and hearing young people together, all out and about in the arts life of our City and Region.
