General Information
Description of ServiceVSC provides free and confidential counseling services for victims of crime, their family members and friends. Some counseling options available include:

- Individual Counseling: Empowerment/Strengths-based counseling which recognizes the survivor's strength and resiliency and works to build new coping skills around existing strengths.

- Crisis Counseling: Provides information and support and to assist clients in stabilizing functioning in several key areas impacted by the trauma (such as work and social relationships).

-Supportive Counseling: Through supportive counseling, clients learn new skills for coping with stressors in their lives and reducing the risk of future re-victimization.

- Support Group Counseling:
Homicide Support Group
Adolescent Sexual Assault Support Group
Adult Survivors of Sexual Assault
Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Assault/Abuse
Parents/Significant Others of Child Sexual Assault/Abuse

- Child Abuse Treatment and Family Therapy Program: This program provides free, long-term therapy to abused children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to process their trauma in a professional, therapeutic environment. The staff also works with the non-offending caregivers of these children, involving them in their child's healing.
Urgent Services ProvidedImmediate crisis intervention via two 24-hour hotlines,
in-person accompaniment to hospitals for medical care as a result of rape, in-person accompaniment to police interviews and court hearings, supportive services for the victims’ families and friends, information and referrals
