Description of Service
Physical Therapy evaluates and treats dysfunction of movement. A Physical Therapist can restore or improve physical and functional abilities. Physical Therapy can also provide care to prevent the onset or progression of a disease process or impairment.
Additional programs or disease management enhancements include:
Electrical Stimulation for the acceleration of wound healing, and
Ultrasound used to speed healing, reduce swelling, decrease pain and increase blood flow to the treated areas (this modality is used in conjunction with other physical therapy regimens).
Among the clients who require Physical Therapy treatment are those with limitations associated with :
Stroke and Neurological Disease,
Post operative joint replacements,
Falls and balance problems,
Limb amputation/prosthetic training,
Poor tolerance to functional activity,
Mobility problems related to the heart and lungs, and
The pain and restriction of arthritis.
After receiving Physical Therapy clients enjoy increased safety and independence in the home and community,
increased ambulation skills, strength and range of motion, and decreased pain.
Our physical therapists must pass a licensure examination after graduating from an accredited physical therapy education program with a minimum of a master’s degree before they can practice. Physical therapists are expected to continue professional development by participating in continuing education courses and workshops.
