General Information
Description of ServiceThe Community Health Education department at Phoenixville Hospital provides a variety of health promotion programs, with a focus on disease prevention, self care for health and illness, and utilization of community resources.

More than 14,000 individuals have participated in the more than 800 programs coordinated annually. Programs are offered to adults and young adults and vary from CPR instruction to birth and parenting preparation to anger management seminars, breast cancer awareness, comprehensive tobacco program initiative for adults & teens, diabetes education, blood pressure screenings and many support groups. Activities take place both on the campus of the hospital as well as off-sites in the community, including churches, schools, senior centers and other accessible locations.

Collaboration with area civic, business and religious organizations is critical to the work of this department in reaching the community. Our collaborators have included the Chester and Montgomery counties departments of health, area churches, including Bethel Baptist, First United Church of Christ and St. Matthew, the American Cancer Society, the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation, the Phoenixville Area School District, the United Way of Chester County, Kiwanis International of Phoenixville, the Perkiomen Valley Healthy Communities Partnership, Communities That Care, Claneil Foundation, Breast Cancer Coalition, Phoenixville Area Violence Prevention Network, YMCA, Housing Authority of Chester County, Phoenixville Senior Center, Phoenixville Area Community Services, local libraries, AARP, supermarkets and others.
