Description of Service
Advocacy services help families and self-advocates understand and navigate the mental health/intellectual and developmental disability service systems. Our advocates safeguard individual rights and promote self-determination and inclusion. The Arc's advocates provide one-to-one support and mentoring services, help parents effectively plan for their adult childs future and effectively participate in planning meetings, accompany families and self-advocates to meetings as needed, provide ongoing support for self-advocates with limited family involvement, initiate, promote, and support individual and county-wide self-determination and self-advocacy efforts, provide training for self-advocates, monitor progress made in the areas of inclusion, self-determination, employment, habilitation, and recreation, and actively promote systems change and improvement through state and national lobbying. The Arc's education advocacy services help parents, guardians, and students develop a plan of action for obtaining a free and appropriate education and helping students make meaningful progress on their educational goals.

Fees or Charges
All education advocacy services are offered at no charge to Chester County families with a verifiable total household income of $70,000 or less. All other families can access The Arcs highly qualified education advocacy services for a reasonable fee of $6
Hours of Operation
Administrative hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM -4:300 PM. Evening appointments are available.
