Description of Service
Families are an important part of the patient's treatment program, but they often need emotional support themselves.
Family Involvement Program :
Our Family Involvement Program is facilitated by one of our Masters level Allied Therapists and is open to all family members as well as the community. These are informational meetings where people can learn how to deal with the impact of mental illness. Education is provided about diagnoses, treatment options, and aftercare as well as support those who are being impacted by their loved ones illness. This program also serves as a liaison between families and treatment teams. The Family Involvement Program is geared toward families, friends and caregivers of adult patients. We offer a weekly evening program which is held on Thursdays (5:30p-6:30p).
Fairmount F.O.C.U.S. (Family Opportunity for Communication, Unity and Success) on Families (For Parents of Child or Adolescent Patients Only):
Intensely structured multifamily groups which parents and children attend together with breakout sessions for discussions and activities. The goal for the FOCUS group is to provide disease and medication specific knowledge; facilitate effective parent child/teen interaction styles; provide resources, services and support systems in the community; and emphasize the importance of finding time for self, parents and partners. Parents are encouraged to support one another and to take a more active role in their child's mental health care. Children and adolescents are encouraged to maintain age appropriate responsibility for managing the effects of their disease on thoughts, behaviors and feelings.
