General Information
Description of ServiceChildren's Home of York's Independent Living at George Street Program is a community-based Independent Living (IL) Program for adolescent males aged 15 to 18. Serving dependent and delinquent males, our IL Program operates in a therapeutic milieu employing Sanctuary® principles and equips residents with the skills necessary to function as a positive, productive citizens -— in the family, workplace, and community. Following an Ansell Casey Life Skills Assessment, each resident participates in individualized independent living curriculum focused on instruction, assistance, positive therapeutic mediation, modeling, and real-life experience. In addition, clients residing at George Street work on developing pro-social, anger management, and conflict resolution skills.
