Description of Service
The Social Service Department of the Housing Authority of the City of York, also known as The Jefferson Center, offers a wide range of programs and services to assist and enhance the life opportunities and self-sufficiency efforts of adults and children residing in Section 8 and public housing throughout York County.
Family Self-Sufficiency: Program designed to help families become economically independent so they will no longer need to rely on public assistance. Members work with a case manager to assess strengths, identify barriers, set and achieve goals.
Section 8 Homeownership Program: program for anyone currently living in Section 8 voucher housing. Under this program, eligible families can purchase a home and receive financial assistance for mortgage payments for up to 15 years. For the elderly/disabled, there are no time limits. Call for specific eligibility requirements.
Budget counseling, a wellness center and a computer lab.
