Description of Service
A volunteer-based non-profit organization providing a voice in the courts on behalf of abused and neglected children in Westmoreland County. CASA assists the courts to ensure the child's placement in a safe, permanent, and nurturing home.
CASA is appointed to a child's case by a judge or hearing master in Family Court. Individuals seeking an advocate for a child can ask the child's caseworker through the Westmoreland County Children's Bureau or the child's attorney to complete a referral form.
A referral form needs to be completed by the child's caseworker through the Westmoreland County Children's Bureau or the child's attorney. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and complete clearances and training prior to taking on a case.
Community members interested in being a CASA volunteer must complete an application, clearances and an interview before starting the CASA training.
