Description of Service
Emergency shelter (up to 30 days) to eligible, low-income families and individuals from Somerset County who, due to situational crisis, are at risk of becoming homeless.
Referral services, information and assistance that will enable guests to relocate to safe, affordable permanent housing within 30 days.

Must be Somerset County Resident for the last 6 months and provide written proof to Next Step showing their residency in Somerset County, DV's must be beyond immediate crisis and have a current PFA, if individual is addicted to drugs or alcohol must be an active participant in an approved rehab program, 18 yrs or older must be willing to enter into a legal binding Guest/Shelter Agreement, Must be capable of independent living or in families at least one parent must be capable of independent living, former guest of Next Step will be considered on a case by case bases, must have no record of sexual or violent offenses or pending offenses, must not be on parole, if on probation will be reviewed with probation officer.
Proof of residency at least 2 of the following, utility bills, rent receipts, Drivers license, etc.
Must be a resident of Somerset County for the past six months. Individuals and families MUST be referred by the Somerset County Salvation Army (814-445-9232), Somerset County Children and Youth, Tableland Services (814-445-9628) or Somerset Community Hospital (would have to be a patient).

$25 week if applicable, will be determined by Exec. Director on a case by case bases.
