Description of Service
Provides assistance to Lycoming County veterans and/or their family members with getting the local, state and federal benefits for which they are eligible. County veterans' benefits can include:
Registration of discharge documents
Burial allowance, grave markers and flag holders, grave maintenance
Assistance with obtaining a Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) Rapid ID card, which is necessary to receive health care
State veterans' benefits can include:
Real estate tax exemption
Blind veterans' pension
Paralyzed veterans' pension
Educational gratuity program
Persian Gulf veterans' compensation
State Nursing Homes for veterans
Federal veterans' benefits can include:
Compensation and pensions
Vocational rehabilitation and employment
Home guaranteed loans
Burial and memorial benefits
VA live insurance
Replacement of DD214s and other Military Records

Those seeking a VA benefit for the first time must submit the original or certified copy of their service discharge form (DD-214, DD-215, or for WWII veterans, a WD form), which documents service dates and type of discharge, or give their full name, military service number, and branch and dates of service.
