General Information
Description of ServiceProvides assistance to Lycoming County veterans and/or their family members with getting the local, state and federal benefits for which they are eligible. County veterans' benefits can include:
  • Registration of discharge documents
  • Burial allowance, grave markers and flag holders, grave maintenance
  • Assistance with obtaining a Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) Rapid ID card, which is necessary to receive health care

    • State veterans' benefits can include:
      • Real estate tax exemption
      • Blind veterans' pension
      • Paralyzed veterans' pension
      • Educational gratuity program
      • Emergency assistance
      • Persian Gulf veterans' compensation
      • State Nursing Homes for veterans

        • Federal veterans' benefits can include:
          • Healthcare services
          • Compensation and pensions
          • Vocational rehabilitation and employment
          • GI Bill
          • Home guaranteed loans
          • Burial and memorial benefits
          • VA live insurance
          • Replacement of DD214s and other Military Records

Intake ProcedureCall to schedule an appointment or to ask questions about veterans' services.
Intake RequirementsThose seeking a VA benefit for the first time must submit the original or certified copy of their service discharge form (DD-214, DD-215, or for WWII veterans, a WD form), which documents service dates and type of discharge, or give their full name, military service number, and branch and dates of service.
Additional RequirementsAdditional documents are needed for pension claims. Please refer to the list on their website.

EligibilityLycoming County veterans and/or their family members. Eligibility for most VA benefits is based upon discharge from active military service under other than dishonorable conditions.

Fee AmountsAll services are free.
Hours of Operation Weekdays, 8:30am to 5:00pm; Walk-ins Friday, 1:00pm to 4:00pm, subject to staff availability.
