Description of Program
VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) is an integrated health care system that proudly serves the Veteran population throughout the tri-state area of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. VAPHS consists of two clinical care facilities in Pittsburgh as well as five community based outpatient clinics.
Following a major construction initiative approved through the Capital Asset Realignment for Enhanced Services study, VAPHS is in the final stages of closing Highland Drive, a 168-acre campus that is almost 60 years old. The Highland Drive campus no longer provides clinical patient care.
VAPHS maintains academic affiliations with more than 170 associated health educational programs, including the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine. VAPHS also supports an active research program, including four National Research Centers of Excellence.
In collaboration with the Fisher House Foundation, VAPHS opened a Fisher House on its University Drive campus on November 26, 2012. The Fisher House assists families that are in need and ensures that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment.
