Description of Program
The American Red Cross of Southwestern Pennsylvania, which is the headquarters of the 25-county Western Pennsylvania Region, serves more than 1.6 million people in Allegheny, Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.
The Red Cross provides food and shelter in emergencies, assists members of our armed forces and their families, teaches lifesaving CPR and First Aid skills, and more. All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
The Western Pennsylvania Region provides relief to the victims of more than 1,000 disasters each year, including 300 in Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Allegheny, Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.
The American Red Cross is not a government agency and it relies on the generosity of the people of Western Pennsylvania to fulfill its mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies.
