Description of Agency
The Pennsylvania Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (PA AAP) believes in the potential of all children and considers children a most enduring and valuable legacy. PA AAP is a 501-c-3 not-for- profit educational organization of approximately 2,300 pediatricians dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of children and the value of pediatric practice. PA AAP is closely affiliated with the national AAP organization but maintains its own separate 501(c)(3) affiliation.
PA AAP has a 30-year history of successfully collaborating with public-private partnerships, federal and state government, and foundations.
PA AAP members participate as primary care providers, medical directors, educators, members of state advisory committees, program experts, media spokespeople, and advocates to address issues related to child health. PA AAP educates parents, professionals, legislators, media, and the public about the needs of children, families, and communities. The organization offers programs addressing critical issues including injury prevention, immunization, oral health, obesity prevention, prevention of child abuse and neglect, behavioral health, special health care needs, health and safety in early childhood learning centers, adolescent needs, emergency preparedness, and more. PA AAP is on the front lines of responding to current issues including gun safety and violence prevention, immigrant health, the opioid crisis, and food insecurity. PA AAP is a leading voice for Pennsylvania’s children, especially those who are most vulnerable. The organization supports and advocates for families as they navigate often precarious paths to healthier and safer health and well-being for children and adolescents. PA AAP is a vital partner in ensuring access to quality health care services for all PA children.
