Founded in 1989, Esperanza Health Center is a non-profit, faith-based community health center with three locations in north Philadelphia: 4417 N. 6th Street (Hunting Park), 3156 Kensington Avenue, and 2940 N. 5th Street. Esperanza’s Mission Statement is: “Compelled by the love of God in Christ Jesus, in cooperation with the Church and others, Esperanza Health Center is a multi-cultural ministry providing holistic healthcare to the Latino and underserved communities of Philadelphia.” We seek to fulfill this mission by providing affordable, high-quality, bilingual and multi-cultural primary health care services in Jesus’ name, without regard for ability to pay, to all people in our community who seek care. The health center’s 31 highly-qualified, board-certified clinicians specialize in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine/pediatrics, obstetrics/ gynecology and general dentistry. Primary medical care services offered by Esperanza include: Preventive and Acute Medical Care; General Dentistry (Kensington site); Pediatrics; Chronic Disease Management (e.g., Diabetes); Women’s and Prenatal Care; Inpatient Hospital Care (Temple Hospital); and, Comprehensive HIV Medical Care. In addition, a number of vital health support services are offered at Esperanza, including: Behavioral Health Consultation Services; Spiritual Care and Counseling; Nutrition Counseling; On-Site Medication Dispensary; Confidential HIV Testing and Counseling; Social Services and Case Management; Nutrition and Fitness Classes; and, an On-Site Fitness Center. We accept a number of health insurances including Medicaid, Medicare and other health plans; we also provide care to individuals who do not have insurance, with payment on a sliding-fee scale based on income.
