|Description of Agency||Resources for Human Development is a comprehensive human services organization. Its mission is to empower the most vulnerable and marginalized members of society as they build the highest level of independence possible.
RHD oversees and supports more than 160 locally managed programs in 14 states, with a corporate central office in Philadelphia, Pa. These innovative and effective programs specialize in helping people who have mental illnesses or developmental disabilities, homeless dividuals in and families, people rejoining society after incarceration, and people with histories of substance abuse so that they may all build better lives for themselves, their families and their communities.
RHD also pioneers programs that effect lasting social change through economic and community development. RHD strives to develop programs that demonstrate innovation, effectiveness, caring, flexibility, and efficiency. Government agencies, private groups, and individuals come to RHD with needs and ideas; RHD provides program planning and implementation expertise,ongoing programmatic and technical assistance and financial and
administrative support. RHD is unique in its model of nonprofit sponsorship and corporate approach to social service. Its administrative structure combines the widest possible delegation of authority and responsibility to individual program units with a centralized, independently audited accounting system.
