| Description of Agency | Family Service has 6 broad service groupings consisting of more than 20 individual programs: 1-Behavioral Health Services employ a skilled team of psychiatrists, therapists, and nurses who offer individual and family counseling, case management, drug and alcohol treatment, and psychiatric evaluation and treatment. 2-Child & Adolescent Services provide programs which share the common goal of helping the county's young people achieve their greatest potential. Programs treat behaviors that place people at risk; encourage constructive behaviors and activities that lead to full, rich lives; and build coalitions of support for children among parents, school officials, and community organizations. 3-Adult Services provide counseling, case management, education, and support to adults in programs focused on supporting employment and improving parenting. 4-Older Adult Services include counseling, reviewing long-term care options, identifying resources, and executing plans that keep older adults safe. 5-HIV/AIDS Services provide the only comprehensive medical, social, and housing supports in Bucks County for people living with HIV/AIDS. The program includes medical case management and prevention. 6-Community Building Initiatives target high, at-risk communities, helping them build up the social and economic fabric of their neighborhoods through the involvement of local residents. Through this comprehensive program mix, Family Services helps more than 7,400 people in Bucks County annually and promotes their long-term well-being and maximizes their independence. While the agency serves all socioeconomic levels, 90% of Family Service consumers are low income, i.e. receiving government assistance and/or working at low-level jobs with inadequate salaries and no benefits. Although minorities (primarily African-American, Latinos, and Asians) represent 7.5% of Bucks County's general population, this group represents 34% of Family Service's consumers. Family Service is a Medicare provider and holds contracts with Magellan Behavioral Health to serve its Medicaid and commercial members. Family Service is one a the few Medicare providers offering mental health services in Bucks County. |
